When I was three years old

I played my first video game ever... Megaman 3. At that moment, I realized how powerful sound and music were to a game's overall experience. Since those fateful days of leaving a game on, just so I could listen to the music, I've had the honor of working with dozens of clients around the world and giving talks about my experiences at over 100 game industry events worldwide.

I create an emotional impact

For you and your audience. The point of great audio is to draw your players in and make them feel a sense of wonder and awe that only great games can provide.

Whether you want sound design or someone to speak at your event

Let's make an amazing experience together.

WHY WORK WITH ME?

I’m here to help your game sound great. When it sounds great, it feels great. And when it feels great, people will buy, stream, and play the heck out of it.

IF YOU ARE

  • A developer in need of custom music, sound design, audio implementation, and/or voice over for your game or VR/AR project.

  • Tired of dealing with per-asset, per-hour, per-minute quotes and just want to know how much great audio will cost you up-front.

  • Fed up with flakey contractors who don’t stay in touch or get things done on time.

Then you've come to the right place!

After spending the last 8 years as a composer/sound designer for games, working on award-winning and best-selling projects like Hyper Light Drifter and Destiny, I’ve learned exactly what it takes for a game to sound incredible.

IMAGINE

  • Having a polished game that impresses new players and publishers, even in the early stages of development.

  • Being invited to show off your game at conferences like PAX, GDC, or Indiecade.

  • Not having to micromanage every aspect of audio development - leaving you with more time and peace of mind.

If you’re ready, just send me an email and tell me about your project. If we’re a good fit for one another, then we’ll create something awesome together.

“SOME SOUND DESIGNERS MERELY ASK FOR A LIST OF ASSETS TO DELIVER, BUT AKASH WORKED WITH US TO FIGURE OUT WHAT WE NEEDED"

ZACH BARTH / ZACHTRONICS INDUSTRIES

“I’ve got a grip on most of the game development process, but sound design is absolutely not one of my talents. That’s why, for Ironclad Tactics, we brought in Akash! Some sound designers merely ask for a list of assets to deliver, but Akash worked with us to figure out what we needed, created great sound effects, found and coordinated great voice actors, tweaked things until they were perfect, and managed the whole process from start to finish. Exactly what I’d hoped for, and more!”

“NOT ONLY IS AKASH AN AMAZING COMPOSER, HE IS ALSO A GREAT MENTOR AND SO WILLING TO IMPART HIS WISDOM ON ASPIRING COMPOSERS"

A.C. MENES / COMPOSER, PERFORMER, EDUCATOR

“I attended a panel run by composer Akash Thakkar, which was all about videogame music. I expected to learn a little about how game composers do their thing, but what I got was a ton of motivation and amazing advice on how to break into the industry.

Akash was really friendly and helpful; he answered so many aspiring VG composers' questions and gave such great advice on how to network with game developers, on the best orchestral sounds to use in recordings, on just about everything! He openly invited everyone in attendance to email him and ask for advice.

Not only is he an amazing composer, he is also a great mentor and so willing to impart his wisdom on aspiring composers. Soon after his panel, I landed my first gig as a game composer. I can't thank Akash enough. So glad I attended his panel!"
